Sandy Lane - Barbados
Well, where do I start with this place? It is just simply, amazing. When I was younger I used to go here every summer for a few weeks and experience Crop Over. If you've been to Nottinghill Carnival it is kind of like that, but the proper intense Caribbean version. You also might of seen Rhianna in the media at Crop Over. Head to my Instagram for my outfits from the trip!
Sandy Lane is one of my favourite hotels in the world, the staff are absolutely incredible, and so polite and accommodating - especially the water sports department! They always remember your name, and are so attentive! But of course the luxury service comes with a whopping price tag, but it is ALL so worth it, I mean, if Simon Cowell stays there repeatedly they must be doing something right if he has a smile on his face there!
I shared a 2 bed suite with my parents, because yes at 28 I still holiday with them....and if it means I get to go to Sandy Lane, of course I will take the second bedroom in the suite! It is so worth it! This room is ideal for a family, it has a second bedroom with 2 single beds, which they so kindly made into a larger bed for me, and a master bedroom. Although the Orchid wing in the hotel isn't situated on the beach front, from the balcony you can see a glimpse of the beach through the trees, and most definitely hear the ocean! It is called the Luxury Orchid Suite.
The Island's Food
One of my favourite nights here is the buffet night at Bajun Blue, they have cuisines from all over the world and it's just mouth watering, I end up leaving the size of a whale shark! OH and not to forget the Sunday Roast which is also at Bajun Blue, woah the yorkshire puddings and the pork. Bajun Blue is their more casual restaurant on site, however I think it has the best food, the breakfast buffet there is also mind blowing. Sadly I didn't take any photos because I was too busy up and down filling up my plate, so you'll just have to go and experience it for yourself!
Along with the exquisite hotel the island boasts some incredible restaurants.
This restaurant was new for us, we hadn't been back to Barbados in many years and this was the first time visiting this restaurant. It was incredible! The food was outstanding, that's one thing I love about the islands, the fresh produce. I highly rate this restaurant, the decor is trendy and very modern, but it also gives you the ocean beachside setting. Please click to see restaurant website.
This restaurant has remained one of my all time favourites, and has been on the island for many many years. The food is consistently good here, and again, beach front setting! They also offer lunch here, and Sandy Lane will drive you by boat for lunch at Lonestar and pick you up after. I love having a beach front table as you can see all the crabs scuttling about at night.
This is very much fine dining at this restaurant, very expensive, very exclusive and there's a dress code for men! If you want to splash the cash and sit on a cliff over looking the beautiful blue Bajan sea, then here is your place. The restaurant is incredibly romantic, and scenic! However, we tried the Cliff Beach Club next door and had an awful experience. The original one, The Cliff is much better! It's famous for its giant carp fish that swim in the lights - they look like sharks! But they're carp, but they can't be fished and eaten because they're too boney, so they hang around waiting for scraps at the end of the night and have just religiously returned.
